Is it worth it?

So I taught a pretty intense cycle class the Saturday before the 4th of July and as we were riding and expending calories, I talked with them about what foods were worth putting in their body to have to do this class again.  For example….. Was it really worth eating that hot dog? We are not even talking about the bun, catsup and relish.  If you want chili and cheese on it - that is a whole other class worth of calories right there. What about the Beer and Sodas?  The potato salad?

I know that I am the only person that thinks this way to an extreme – but I think that it is something that we should all have in the back of our minds.  When you think about making a meal/snack or ordering something at a restaurant – consider the ingredients for a moment.  Think of what kind of activity you would have to do to burn the fat and calories you are putting in your body and you may decide that it is not worth it.  I for one have decided that as much as I love French Fries, they are not worth the work out.  Chocolate on the other hand is (but I still eat it in moderation).  How about  soda?  Many people drink regular soda (which is crazy!) and need to understand that to burn off that one soda that brought you happiness for about 30 minutes would require about 20 minutes of running, or an hour walking at a brisk pace.  Is it really worth it?  I would go for water instead!  Save those calories for something better - like chocolate!   :)

This is just a little food for thought.  Think before you eat and only put in things that you are happy to have to work off your butt and gut!  I know that is what I try and do and I love to work out!  That must mean all the calories that I put in me are worth every ounce of sweat at the gym!

Good luck trying to decide what you REALLY enjoy eating!  Remember…. You are worth it!
